North Maluku, June 13, 2025 – Two students of the Chinese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully passed the selection of the MBKM internship program at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) located in Lelilef Village, Central Weda District, Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. One of the largest nickel mining and processing-based industrial parks in Indonesia. This 4-month internship starts from February 13, 2025 to June 13, 2025.
This internship program provides an opportunity for students to apply their Chinese language skills in a professional work environment, particularly in an industrial sector that has many partners from China. The two students interned as Chinese translators and were placed in various divisions, to support the company’s operations that involve intensive interaction with workers and investors from China. Their participation in this program also provides academic benefits, as the results of these internships can be converted into course grades in accordance with the MBKM policy implemented by Brawijaya University. Thus, students can still complete their studies on time while gaining valuable work experience.
The MBKM internship program at IWIP is one of the concrete steps in improving the readiness of UB Chinese Literature graduates in facing competition in the global workforce. Hopefully, more students will be motivated to join similar programs to enrich their skills and experience before graduating from college.
