Narendra, a Chinese Literature student at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya, has made a mark as one of the grand finalists in the prestigious Putra Putri Brawijaya (PPB) 2024 event. This is his second participation in the embassy world, after previously participating in the 2023 Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) Ambassador event.
Narendra’s participation in PPB 2024 was not planned initially. ” At first, when I joined the FIB Ambassador, there was no plan to join Putra Putri Brawijaya. But because of the encouragement from other ambassadors members, I became curious and decided to try,” he said.
The PPB 2024 event began with two initial selection stages before the announcement of the finalists. After being selected as finalists, Narendra and the other participants had seven quarantine sessions for four weeks, which took place every Saturday and Sunday, from October 5 to October 27, 2024. Quarantine sessions included material, photoshoots, Q&A practice, speech, and grand final preparation. Despite the tight schedule, this student who is often called “Naren” enjoyed every process, especially during the opening dance rehearsal, which became one of his most memorable moments.
Despite the hectic quarantine schedule, Narendra must also divide his time between academics and responsibilities in several committees he participates in.
His previous experience as a FIB Ambassador provided a lot of provisions for Narendra to face the world of embassies. He felt that the knowledge and experience gained at the FIB Ambassador was very helpful during the selection and quarantine process at PPB 2024.
As part of Putra Putri Brawijaya 2024, Narendra has higher hopes to make a positive contribution. “I hope to bring benefits to the surrounding environment, especially the Faculty of Cultural Studies. My goal in joining PPB is to have a positive impact, both for myself and the people around me,” he concluded.
The PPB 2024 event became one of Narendra’s unforgettable experiences, which was not only about competition, but also about learning, friendship, and the opportunity to keep growing. The PPB 2024’s Grand Final will be the culmination of this inspiring journey, which is expected to leave a positive mark on all participants and the Brawijaya society. Hopefully, Narendra’s achievement can raise the spirit and motivate other students of the Chinese Literature Study Program at Brawijaya University, to keep on excelling and work in the future.
