December 31, 2024 – The Certified Independent Study Internship (MSIB) batch 7 period has just ended. In this batch, a number of Chinese Literature students of Brawijaya University had the opportunity to intern in several prestigious companies ranging from StartUp to government institutions such as the Secretariat General of the DPR-RI.

There are 4 students who participated in the MSIB Batch 7 Program, namely: Siti Nur Syifaulia Sunar at PT Jababeka Tbk as Mandarin Sales Intern, Aretha Alea Jean Beatrice at PT Cerdas Digital Nusantara (Cakap) as Mandarin Content Developer, Faricha Challysta at Setjen Dikti as a Partnership, Saffanah Hasya Nabilah at Setjen DPR-RI as Assistant Translator.

MSIB is one of the leading programs in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program (MBKM) of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research. Students who take part in MBKM will be converted into 20 Semester Credit Units (SKS). In the enrollment process, students need to go through several stages. Starting from file preparation, file selection by companies, interview sessions, and offering stages by companies.

In MSIB Batch 7, there was a delay in the timeline, but it did not discourage students from participating in this program. “At first I was hopeless because of the delayed timeline from MSIB, but after the interview and getting information that I was accepted (internship), I immediately discussed it with my parents and friends who previously interned there too,” said Syifa.

During the internship, students are required to practice the knowledge gained during their lectures directly and experience the real professional world. Students admitted that they received several benefits after participating in this program. “I gained knowledge on how to develop materials that are interesting and easy for students to understand, direct teaching experience, learning Chinese culture from the materials made, as well as communication and teamwork skills,” said Aretha.

Not only knowledge, but students also experienced several memorable and valuable things while doing an internship program in Government Institutions such as the General Secretariat of the DPR RI “being able to see an open plenary session and also experience a direct simulation of the plenary session itself, once (also) had the opportunity to interact directly with the Vice Chairman of the Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee, National People’s Congress (NPC), P.R. China” added Saffanah.

By participating in this internship program, it hoped to open up opportunities for cooperation between UB Chinese Literature Study Program and partners, so that Chinese Literature students have more internship opportunities that are relevant to their careers in the Mandarin field.
