Students of the Chinese Literature Study Program of Brawijaya University’s Faculty of Cultural Sciences completed the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Certified Internship Program in collaboration withVLBM Energi Baru Indonesia LLC located in Kendal, Central Java. LBM Energi Baru Indonesia LLC itself is a company engaged in the energy sector from China and is one of the partners of the Chinese Literature Study Program. This MBKM program was attended by 4 Chinese Literature Study Program students which lasted for about 5 months from July 30 to December 20, 2024.
The registration process for the MBKM internship program in collaboration with the Chinese Literature Study Program and LBM Energi Baru Indonesia LLC begins with the provision of information by Chinese Literature Study Program lecturers, then directs applicants to send CVs in Mandarin and English. The initial stage of selection carried out by the company involved an interview with the company’s HRD staff using Mandarin, to explore students’ lecture experience and expertise in the field of Indonesian-Mandarin translation and vice versa.
The internship process begins with an introduction to the company and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training. After the students received the training, they were then assigned to their respective departments. Although they have the same role as translators, the four Chinese Literature Study Program students are assigned to different departments. The following are the names of the students and the departments to which they were assigned:
Name | Student Number | Department |
Annisa Nurlitasari | 215110401111004 | Healthy, Security, and Environment (HSE) |

The MBKM internship program carried out by Chinese Literature Study Program students successfully converted a total of 12 credits in their 7th semester. In addition, this program also provides other benefits outside the realm of lectures ranging from work experience, communicating directly with Chinese colleagues who at the same time enrich the interns’ Mandarin vocabularies that are not obtained in lectures, input and guidance from experienced colleagues, and last but not least is the acquisition of new skills during the internship.
Hopefully, with the success of the MBKM internship program, the collaboration between the Chinese Literature Study Program of FIB UB and LBM Energi Baru Indonesia LLC can be beneficial to students’ careers after graduation and pump up the enthusiasm of other Chinese Literature Study Program students to continue the process. It is hoped that the Chinese Literature Study Program can collaborate with more industries to facilitate students to gain work experience.
