Gresik, Indonesia – Two students of the Chinese Literature Study Program of Brawijaya University Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB UB) have completed the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) certified internship program as a substitute for the 7th-semester lecture for the 2024/2025 academic year which amounts to 12 credits. The two students underwent internships at Safemate Technology Indonesia LLC, located in Gresik Regency, East Java, for 3 months from early August to late October 2024. With the position of assistant translators, the two students of the FIB UB Chinese Literature study program were placed in different divisions. The following are the names and divisions where the students were placed:

The internship registration process begins with sending a CV followed by an interview with the company. After passing the interview, participants started their internship in early August 2024. During the internship, participants had the opportunity to hone skills in several fields, not only Chinese language skills but also skills in using Microsoft Office applications and Canva; as well as soft skills in time management, problem-solving, technical skills, and communication. Communicating directly with expatriates from China is also a valuable experience for participants where they can practice speaking Mandarin directly with native speakers.
With the implementation of this internship program, it is hoped that the Chinese Literature Study Program can improve the quality of cooperation with industry and facilitate students with more opportunities to gain experience in the world of work.
