North Maluku, December 21, 2024 – Three students of Chinese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Brawijaya (UB) successfully passed the selection of MBKM internship program at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), one of the largest nickel mining and processing-based industrial estates in Indonesia. The internship, which took place for 4 months, started from August 19, 2024 to December 21, 2024.
This internship program provides an opportunity for students to apply their Chinese language skills in a professional work environment, particularly in an industrial sector that has many partners from China. The three students interned as Chinese translators and were placed in various divisions, to support the company’s operations that involve intensive interaction with workers and investors from China. Here are the names of the internship students at IWIP and their division placements:
Name | Student Number | Division |
Arina Aulia Rahman | 215110400111010 | Recruitment Dept. HRD |
Arindika Meffilia | 215110400111022 | Purchasing Dept. Comercial |
Fragil Vanisya | 215110401111014 | Development Dept. HRD |
One of the interns, Fragil Vanisya, expressed her enthusiasm for this opportunity. “This program is a valuable experience for us to not only improve our Chinese language skills, but also to understand first-hand the dynamics of the industry and work culture in multinational companies,” she said.
Their participation in this program also provides academic benefits, as the results of this internship can be converted into course grades in accordance with the MBKM policy implemented by Brawijaya University. Thus, students can still complete their studies on time while gaining valuable work experience.
The MBKM internship program at IWIP is one of the concrete steps in improving the readiness of Brawijaya University Chinese Literature graduates in facing competition in the global workforce. Hopefully, more students will be motivated to join similar programs to enrich their skills and experience before graduating from college.
