Kendal, Indonesia – Students from the Chinese Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB UB) participated in an independent internship at Golden Textile Indonesia LLC. Information about this internship opportunity was initially shared during a Job Fair organized by the Faculty of Cultural Studies, which encouraged students to apply. After undergoing a series of tests conducted by the company, three students from the class of 2020 were selected for the internship program, which took place from March to May 2023. These students were assigned as translators, working directly with expatriates from China. Below is the list of students who participated in the internship program at Golden Textile Indonesia LLC:

The three Chinese Literature students who completed the internship have now graduated and have been appointed as permanent employees at Golden Textile Indonesia LLC. The internship experience helped them refine their Mandarin communication skills, gain hands-on work experience, and expand their knowledge of accents and vocabulary beyond what is taught in lectures. One of the participants, Dafa Amalia Putri, shared memorable moments from her internship: “One of the most memorable experiences was communicating with foreigners for the first time, trying to understand the workflow, accents, and written communication, which sometimes differed from what we learned on campus.”

The success of these three Chinese Literature Study Program students in securing permanent positions at after their internship Golden Textile Indonesia LLC is expected to motivate other students in the program to pursue similar opportunities. It is also hoped that the Chinese Literature Study Program can establish more collaborations with industries to provide students with greater access to work experience.
