This course studies the representation of society in literary works and examines cultural practices carried out by members of the community. To understand these representations and practices, this course will discuss the theory of sociology of literature and culture. Afterwards, students are expected to be able to use these concepts/theories to analyse literary works that raise social issues, and examine the phenomenon of cultural practices carried out by community members with an interdisciplinary perspective. The teaching methods comprise demonstration, contextual learning, and group project-based learning. Assessment in this course includes attendance, activity in class, project, assignments, quizzes, midterm and final examination.
